Foundations

One of the problems with building a Tiny House without wheels is that you have to establish a reasonable foundation system to support the tiny home and prevent it from being affected by wind and rain.

As we are designing for a moveable structure we shouldnt leave a mess if we remove the tiny from its location.  The other thing is that we should be able to properly lift the tiny house off its trailer and lower it to the ground.  Its final position ought not be 850mm off the ground (which is required to remove the trailer) but it shouldnt be totally sitting on the ground to avoid moisture and allow ventilation under the Tiny.

We plan to use four three ton jacks on the long sides of the tiny close to the ends, using a bracket manufactured to fit under the 150 x 50 side rail.  We will need to provide a slot in the underfloor skin to allow this to happen.

I’m planning on locating the tiny about 200 – 300mm off the ground on a concrete pad (or slab).  There will be 8 perimiter stumps that can be adjusted for leveling. The side stumps will be approx 1800 spans.  There will also be two central stumps which will be attached as the trailer is removed.  The side stump tops will be permanently affixed to tiny house and will overhang the tiny home outside the trailer width.

Im planning to make use of a restumping product from Queensland called Levelmaster who provide 75mm adjustable top and bottom brackets an utilise 75 x75 shs 3mm tube cut to length.  See brackets etc in pictures above.
